Tasting Notes

A powerful Cabernet Sauvignon from Beringer’s high elevation site on Mt Veeder, where the vineyard lies mostly above the fog line. This Cabernet is expressive and ripe with floral notes of violet and spiced plum on the nose, while on the palate, layers of blackberry, blueberry, and cassis, sit alongside baking spiced notes of cedar, clove, hazelnut, and vanilla. A full-bodied structure with chewy, velvety-rich tannins, leading to a polished finish that is long and chocolatey with subtle hints of black olive. Drinking beautifully upon release and sure to improve over time as it ages.

“Aromas of cassis, blackberries, baking spices and cedar wood with hints of hazelnuts and graphite. Firm and solid with a full body and chewy tannins. Compact and polished with an attractive dark fruit on the palate. Long and chocolatey with some ash undertones. Try from 2026.” - James Suckling, February 2022

Vintage

Abundant late winter rains gave the soils much needed moisture to kick off the 2019 growing season. The long, warm summer saw few extreme heat events and the typical foggy mornings set the stage for producing vibrant and expressive wines. The long and relatively mild finish to the season helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with extended hangtime producing great color, flavor, structure, and tannin. Overall, the season was marked by exceptional fruit development with bright acidity, producing an outstanding vintage.
